Pallid odors.
Like sutra paper.
Like tobacco and your skin.
Today I have a voice like a hat you seldom wear.
Voice like brides in trouble.
What's with this gloomy vexation today.
Some time ago I met a guy with a job I'd never heard of. He was an odor designer.
Say Coca Cola is putting out a new drink. They hire his firm, and he comes up with an odor for the drink. And apparently pulls in huge sums.
If Coca Cola asked me to come up with a new odor, I wouldn't know where to start. And actually wouldn't care. I'd unconsciously assumed that you'd work out the flavor of the drink and the odor would be a byproduct of that.
It's nice to know somebody out there is taking care of these things, but also weird.
At first I thought, does the world really need odor designers? But then it occurs to me that someone could say the same about my job (or my music) and I wouldn't really have an answer. So I'll grant you your odor designers if you leave me alone in return.
