Aging: The ability flees; the yearning sticks around.

This isn’t just the punchline to a bit of blue humor. It doesn’t just apply to bodily functions—to the standing up and sitting down of certain auxiliaries.

There’s a great deal we lose the capacity to do, but not the yen for.

To be creative.

To be vital.

To believe in things easily.

To be enthusiastic for the new, because in our first encounter with things we believe them to be new.

Does this post read as weary and dejected?

Jeez. Who let this old fart into the party?

Sorry!
