An idea for an invention.
ハイテックの機能を搭載した結婚指輪またはペアリングだ。Bluetoothなどでポケットの中に入っているスマートフォンとつながっている。指輪の外側は感圧センサーがあって、内側は何か極めて小さいモーターみたいなのがある。
It’s a wedding band or pair ring that’s got some high-tech features. It’s connected via Bluetooth to the smartphone in your pocket. And it’s got a sort of pressure-sensitive outer edge and a tiny
motorized inner edge.
いつでも、配偶者または恋人を思い出したら、指先で指輪をぎゅっとする。そうすると相手の指輪（自分がはめていると同じタイプの指輪）は指の回りを少し収斂する。向こうの指輪がぎゅっとしてくれるんだ。
So whenever you’re thinking of your spouse or your lover, you squeeze the ring with your fingers. And your spouse/lover’s ring, which is of the same type, slightly contracts around their finger.
It gives them a squeeze.
つまりどんな距離でいくら隔たっていても、指をぎゅっと握り合えるのだ。
So however far away you may be, you can squeeze each other’s fingers.
インターネットで視覚と聴覚を通じて人とつながることに慣れてはいるが、触覚でつながるのには慣れていないよね。だが、他の五感よりも触覚は特に「愛の感覚」だよね。
We’re accustomed to the Internet connecting us via sight and sound, but not really via touch. But more than any other of the five senses, touch is the sense of love.
（実を言えば僕ならこんな指輪は決してはめないはずだ。でも指輪のスタイルさえ良ければ、はめる人はきっと出ると思う。）
(Truth be told, I’d never wear one of these. But as long as it’s stylish, I imagine some people would.)
