I wrote a story years ago called "The Heriot", which I believed was a decent story. Then I stopped believing in it, then believed in it, then stopped, then [enter lock groove, repeat infinitely].
Submitting stories for publication is a way of sidestepping the issue. Someone else will either believe in the piece, or not. It goes out of my hands.
Getting a story published doesn't mean I can believe in it now. What it means is, my opinion is no longer required.
I'm glad to say that Punk Noir Magazine has given "The Heriot" a home. You can read it here.
